From 2021 to 2025, the universities of Hildesheim and Erlangen-Nuremberg together with four federal states have developed an algorithm-based procedure. It identifies the individual needs of adult asylum seekers travelling alone and checks which host municipality best meets their respective needs. This process has been tested under real conditions with more than 20 host municipalities and has been scientifically monitored.
Below, you will find further information on the first funding period of the Match’In project or – as we like to call it – Match’In 1.0.
Throughout the entire first funding period, the project team has presented Match’In to various academic as well as more practice-oriented actors and has engaged in networking activities with a variety of stakeholders.
The project was funded by the Mercator Foundation and implemented by an interdisciplinary alliance of information technology and social science teams at two universities, in collaboration with various stakeholders from the fields of practice and administration.
The algorithm-based procedure has already been tested in practice under real conditions in the first funding phase with more than 20 participating municipalities in four federal states.
Transparency is a top priority in the Match'In project. Therefore, all documents developed and used within Match'In 1.0 are accessible on this page. Here you will find general versions that do not specifically refer to any particular federal state and can therefore be used in practice with slight modifications.
From research to policy and practice: A policy paper with various recommendations for action and other publications on the project can be found here.
